November 1, 2008

October has been quiet on the art front, I haven’t really been working on much of anything. I STILL haven’t learned to work when I don’t have a deadline of sorts looming. Definitely my worst habit as an artist. I’m working that out though, I swear! Good news is, I’m still somehow getting invited to submit work into group shows on the regular!

Coming up:

Thursday, November 6, 2008
6pm and 11pm
Spearmint Pelican Showroom – 58B Fraser Ave Toronto, ON.

Come and Get Plastered for a Good Cause, with Lifetime Collective & Keep A Breast at the Official Collaboration Launch Party!

Lifetime Collective and Keep A Breast Canada announced the launch of their collaboration Breast Friends 4 Life

On display at the event will be a breast cast gallery featuring the artwork of some of Canada’s freshest artists on individually molded breast casts. The night also boasts a Lifetime Collective sample sale with proceeds going to KAB and breast cancer prevention, live breast casting, live cast painting, Skate4Cancer T-shirt handout to every person in attendance, refreshments from Steamwhistle, RedBull, and Emergen-C, and live entertainment including the sounds of DJ 5’2, and the live magic and escapist act of the wonderful Scott Hammell.

I’ve donated a custom painted plaster torso for this event. I’ve been really fortunate to have the opportunity to do work for this particular cause, it has given me the chance to really honor my mother and her memory and those of many other women who live and die with this. The Keep A Breast Foundation itself, is an amazing not for profit organization geared towards Breast Cancer prevention, support and education for young people. They’ve had many shows like this one, with casts painted by hundreds of artists from around the globe. It’s really nice to be involved with this group and this show.

Here’s a shot of the piece I’ve donated… in progress.

Also, November 27th The Omy Collective are proud to be showing at Gallery 360. This is a private event. Please RSVP or you will be very uncomfortable at the door. I will be showing one new piece and several pieces from my solo show this past June. At this show, Mikey OMY will be dropping the gallery’s t-shirt line. My bear painting will be among the designs available.

Please RSVP to carolyn@tmkolawyers.com
